Kofta with Potatoes Recipe

500 grams of minced lamb
4 large potatoes
2 large onions, finely chopped
2 teaspoons of ground coriander
1 teaspoon of chilli garlic paste
2 cups of water

3 large tomatoes, peeled and finely chopped
1 teaspoon of ground coriander
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of chilli garlic paste
2 tablespoons of olive oil


Sauce (Prepare the sauce first)

1) Put olive oil into a saucepan and once the olive oil is hot add the finely chopped onions and let that sauté until dark brown.
2) Add the ground coriander, turmeric, chilli garlic paste, salt (not too much as you will be putting salt in the kofta too) and the peeled and finely chopped tomatoes and let that cook with the lid closed on medium heat until the tomatoes are soft.


1) Put the minced lamb, finely chopped onions, ground coriander, chilli garlic paste and salt into a medium size bowl and knead together for few minutes and put that to a side.
2) Peel and wash the potatoes and then cut them in thick round slices and lay them in the baking tray covering the baking tray with sliced potatoes.
3) Make walnut sized meatballs and layer that on top of the potatoes.
4) Pour the cooked sauce all over the meatballs and then put 2 glasses of water in the baking tray.  Cover the baking tray with foil and let that cook on 200C fan oven for 30 – 35 minutes.  Then remove the foil and cook for another 10 minutes.
5) Enjoy.
